Candidates facilitate the development and implementation of a shared vision for the use of technology in teaching, learning, and leadership. (PSC 1.1/ISTE 1a)
Reflection I wrote a shared vision for technology implementation at my school. As my school’s STEM Facilitator and member of the school leadership team, I was able to share this paper with my administration, instructional coach, and grade level team leaders to facilitate and develop changes to technology implementations across grade levels at our school. Researching effective and appropriate technology implementations for our school and directly relating them to the current realities of the classrooms in our school allowed me the opportunity to facilitate planning for positive changes in utilizing technology at our school with the support of the administration, instructional coach, and classroom teachers. By researching and writing the shared vision for technology at our school, I was able to gain detailed perspectives about all classrooms, their current realities, and what forms of technology would benefit them the most and would prepare the students to become stronger thinkers and learners through effective technology implementations. If I were to do anything differently, I would send out a more detailed needs assessment Google Forms to each teacher to gain a deeper understanding of the needs of each classroom and plan on a more individualized basis to ensure that all classrooms were being equitable considered when planning. The results of the shared vision were discussed and considered when writing the school improvement plan. Technology integrations are always included on our school improvement plan, and many of the discussions and strategies for technology implementations from my shared vision were included as descriptors on our school improvement plan. The impact can be measured through county level common assessments acros grade levels and formative class observations.
